Here at SeaZone, it is not a question of signing you up — but of being with you every step. From choosing the appropriate DG Shipping-approved training center, through documentation and job application, we are with you.
What is GP Rating Course?
The GP Rating (General Purpose Rating) course is a residential 6-month course that outfits candidates for first-level service on the merchant navy. It trains students to maintain both deck and engine ship departments. Successful candidates are eligible to work on merchant ships as trainee seamen and advance to become Able Seamen, Bosuns, or even officers with extra qualification.
The course includes practical training in seamanship, navigation, marine engineering, fire fighting, first aid, personal survival, and more. The course is recognized by the Government of India’s Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and is a stepping stone for anyone who wants to become a seafarer without pursuing the officer route.
